Lots of Power
Challenge: When Clean Currents entered the Philadelphia market, they wanted to demonstrate their commitment to being a good citizen and an active participant in making their new community a better place to work and live.
Solution: Our first step was talking to Philadelphians about the challenges faced by the community. A constant theme that emerged from our focus groups and interviews with civic, business, nonprofit, and educational stakeholders, was the issue of vacant lots and their role in attracting crime and adding to urban blight. As the City of Philadelphia considered how to manage over 40,000 lots, Clean Currents provided a platform to bring teen voices into the conversation through Lots of Power, a comprehensive youth mentoring initiative.
