Interaction Design Association
Scale and sustainability
Goals: Launched in 2003 as a grassroots, communal list-serve for interaction designers to share knowledge and best practices, IxDA (Interaction Design Association) has transitioned into a global organization with over 200 local groups and 100,000 individuals. In 2014, IxDA asked Impact Collaborative to help shape their strategic plan, audit and leverage their most profitable programs, and develop marketing and fundraising plans to ensure the organization's future viability.
Approach: By engaging a wide cross-section of internal and external stakeholders, Impact Collaborative conducted a research and discovery phase, as well as an extensive SWOT analysis, to inform strategic direction and recommendations in the areas of partnerships, communications, programming, fundraising, and organizational change.
Results: Over the course of our ongoing engagement with IxDA, we've helped IxDA realize significant increases in funding and strategic partnerships (particularly in non-traditional support); design new programming in the areas of education and social impact; and develop a communications strategy that has led to more effective internal and external communications across the global network.
